MOUNAYOGI

A reputed family in a remote village after being devasted by a great famine known as NAAKA DURBHIKSHA in Odisha during 1866 leaving only ten years boy survived. That boy left Odisha and worked in Mouriteous as labourer and furtune helped him again rich, who came to Odisha and settled in same village, the family flourished. After seventh generation last man of family in village died in 2021 during epidemic of Corona. This novel speaks of 150 years of its rise and fall as well as giving a brief picture of Odisha.

The book reflects the author’s introspective journey and the emotional impulse behind writing. The novel explores human experiences, particularly the complete nature of love, portrayed as a conflict between illusion and reality. It emphasises that emotional and mental states cannot be measured, creating confusion in relationships. Through two contrasting female characters – Mamata and Urvashi. The narrative examines differing life perspectives. Mamata, practical and grounded expresses care through physical and emotional support, guided by her independent ideology. Urvashi, educated and career-focused, remains uncertain about her feelings, blurring the line between love and friendship. Shubha, caught between desire and traditional values struggles with loneliness and indecision. Then is a story of “bloodied dreams” and the silent tears shed in the struggle to find meaning. By questioning whether love is a moral duty or a liberating force, the book challenges readers to judge the shifting values and wavering relationships of today’s generation.
